SILER Entertainment Group presents the first Punch 2007
- a competition of the highest steppin' and hardest rockin' percussion drumlines ont he east coast! This is not just any competition!
this is an entertaining "stand-off" between the best drumline fraternities. Smoke, lights, special effects, giveaways, sound,
skits, and many percussion tricks are some of the many things spectators can experience during this event.
Drummers are considered "the engine of the band" - that is why SILER Entertainment Group
is excited about showcasing the many talents of drumlines. Atlanta was the logical first choice for Punch 2007 because of
its central location to the schools being invited to participate in this event, and also it's the home of the Honda Battle
of the Bands (approximately 40,000 to 65,000 people each year)! The estimated attendance for this event is expected to be
approximately 30,000.
The event date is January 14, 2007 - two weeks before the Battle of the Bands and Dr.
Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday. SILER Entertainment Group selected January 14 as an opportunity to also bring Atlanta area
families and communities together for fun, fellowship and to expose our youth to the entertaining art of the percussion through
Punch 2007. SILER Entertainment Group anticipates Punch 2007 will be a positive life-changing event that they will remember
always!
The Drumlines selected to participate in Punch 2007 competitions will receive donated
items such as drumheads, straps sticks, etc. Sponsors will present Winners of the competitions with special prizes for the
percussion section (e.g., drums, sticks, drum heads, straps, and/or cash).
Punch 2007 will be videotaped professionally for the distribution of DVDs to anyone who
pre-orders a copy at the event (online). A percentage of the proceeds will be distributed between the schools that participated
in the event. Section leaders and percussion instructors will be interviewed earlier in the day so that specific parts of
the interviews can be displayed int he arena before each drumline performance. The interviews will aslo be included witht
he DVD presentaiton.
